What’s the graphite electrode powder?

This is a kind of by-product during machining of graphite electrode and nipple. We fabricate hole and thread in electrode, shape the nipple with taper and thread. Those are collected by duct collection system and roughly screen as fine powder and cribble powder.

Application of graphite powder

1.Graphite powder is largely used in the forging industry and metallurgical industry. It can be used on the surface of castings to easy the mold stripping and improve the performance of the castings. Some graphite powders with good heat resistance can be made into graphite crucibles to smelt metal materials.

2.Steel smelting is the smelting of cast iron into rolled steel. In order to reduce the consumption of cast iron and reduce the cost of steel smelting, it is necessary to add a recarburizer with graphite powder as the main ingredient during the steel processing.

3.Graphite powder recarburizer has the characteristics of high fixed carbon content, heat resistance, lubricative and stable performance, easy absorption. It is added to the surface of molten iron according to a certain proportion, and graphite powder is vortex mixed by mechanical equipment or manual mixing, molten iron will digest and absorb the carbon contained in graphite powder, the sulfur and other residue components in the molten will be reduce. In such case the steel quality will be significantly improved and product cost is reduced.
