Applications

● Electric arc furnace

Graphite electrodes are mainly used for making steel in electric arc furnace . Graphite electrode acts as a carrier to introduce current into the furnace. The strong current generates arc discharge through gas, and uses the heat generated by the arc for smelting steel. According to the capacity of the electric furnace, different-diameter graphite electrodes are equipped. In order to make the electrodes continue to be used, the electrodes are connected by nipples.

●Submerged electric furnace 

The graphite electrode in Submerged electric furnace is mainly used to produce ferroalloys, pure silicon, yellow phosphorus, matte and calcium carbide. Its characteristic is that a part of the conductive electrode is buried in the charging materials. Therefore, in addition to the heat generated by the arc between the electric plate and the charging materials, when the current passes through the charging material, the heat is also generated by the electrical resistance of the charge. 1 ton of silicon consumes about 150kg of graphite electrode, and 1 ton of yellow phosphorus consumes about 40kg of graphite electrode.

● Resistance furnace

Graphitization furnaces for the producing graphite products, melting furnaces for melting glass, and electric furnaces for the producing silicon carbide are all resistance furnaces. The materials in the furnace are both heating resistors and heated objects. Usually, The conductive graphite electrode is inserted into the furnace head wall at the end of the furnace, and the conductive electrode will not be continuously consumed.
